Looking beyond ourselves - in honour of Rose-Marie Dash, 31.1.1972 – 28.8.2017

At all times we will have a communal project.

This concept comes from some time I spent helping Rose-Marie. A Mum of 4 children and the former CEO of HS Vision group. At the height of her career she was cutting million dollar deals. During her struggle with cancer, she suffered a stroke and lost her purpose. Our children were all at primary school together. We started making craft

packs for art classes in our staff room, a simple activity which brought some joy and purpose.

Looking beyond yourself, finding a way to help again and connect with others is important for all of us. For this reason, the She Shed, Cairns will always have an outreach project we are working on.

We are many but we are one.

We will use clothing that is headed for land fill and work together to

produce blankets for people in need in our community.

There are many ways to contribute, and any skill level can be a part of this beautiful process. There are numerous steps that go into this work of art;

  • Cut buttons off

  • Recover material

  • Cut squares

  • Remove zips

  • Sew

  • Assemble

  • Gift

It is a shared experience that brings joy to all, those who create and those who receive!
